About Us

Our family has always loved harem pants. I have worn them for more years than I care to mention: for yoga, travelling, through pregnancy and just hanging around at home. I only wish I’d discovered earlier that they also make super-comfy pyjama bottoms!

We also adore elephants. For the children, it started in childhood, when they were lucky enough to have their first encounter with these huge, wise animals on our youngest daughter’s first birthday.

On a trip to Sri Lanka, we stocked up on some stunning elephant-print harem pants from local markets. The colours were so vibrant, we could have bought the shop.

As we were paying – I kid you not – three elephants sauntered past the market shop with their Mahouts (see below). Was it a sign? I don't know about that, but it was enough to give me an idea: we could buy locally, ethically produced & sourced harem trousers, sell them back at home and give something back to help support efforts to conserve and safeguard these local elephants (after all elephants are all over so many harem pant designs!).

Our search for a fair trade, ethically minded local supplier, with the range and vision to support our plans to create the most beautiful and colourful range of high-quality, fairly priced harem pants and trousers, took us to Thailand.

For elephant conversation support we opted in 2022 to help support the work of Born Free, in the Amboseli National Park in Kenya; more can be found out about this project here.

Born Free works tirelessly to ensure that all wild animals, whether living in captivity or in the wild, are treated with compassion and respect, and are able to live their lives according to their needs.

As a leading wildlife charity, they oppose the exploitation of wild animals in captivity and campaign to keep them where they belong: in the wild. Their work promotes Compassionate Conservation to enhance the survival of threatened species in the wild and protect natural habitats, while respecting the needs and safeguarding the welfare of individual animals. Bohotusk are proud to support them in our small way.

We have tried to keep plastics out of the delivery and packaging process: currently harem pants are delivered without a hang tag, wrapped in black (or other colours) tissue-wrapping paper and sent out in a "large letter" sized re-cycled cardboard outer mailing carton - it's not 100% perfect yet, but we are taking every step we can to have a zero-use plastic policy.

Happy shopping! We love feedback (good and bad), so please drop us a line with ideas / designs / styles / news on elephants - or indeed anything else.

Love & best wishes
